All things appear and disappear because of the concurrence of causes and conditions. Nothing ever exists entirely alone; everything is in relation to everything else.

There are these two kinds of gifts: a gift of material things & a gift of the Dhamma. Of the two, this is supreme: a gift of the Dhamma.

Overcome the angry by non-anger; overcome the wicked by goodness; overcome the miser by generosity; overcome the liar by truth.

Some do not understand that we must die, But those who do realize this settle their quarrels.

To support mother and father, to cherish wife and children, and to be engaged in peaceful occupation - this is the greatest blessing.

Whoever doesn't flare up at someone who's angry wins a battle hard to win.

You yourself must strive. The Buddhas only point the way.

Silence the angry man with love. Silence the ill-natured man with kindness. Silence the miser with generosity. Silence the liar with truth.

Should a person do good, let him do it again and again. Let him find pleasure therein, for blissful is the accumulation of good.

Resolutely train yourself to attain peace

I will not look at another's bowl intent on finding fault: a training to be observed.

A mind unruffled by the vagaries of fortune, from sorrow freed, from defilements cleansed, from fear liberated - this is the greatest blessing.

As a water bead on a lotus leaf, as water on a red lily, does not adhere, so the sage does not adhere to the seen, the heard, or the sensed.

Better it is to live one day seeing the rise and fall of things than to live a hundred years without ever seeing the rise and fall of things.

"All conditioned things are impermanent" - when one sees this with wisdom, one turns away from suffering.

If you cannot find a good companion to walk with, walk alone, like an elephant roaming the jungle. It is better to be alone than to be with those who will hinder your progress.

We will develop love, we will practice it, we will make it both a way and a basis.

People with opinions just go around bothering each other.

Live in Joy, In love, Even among those who hate. Live in joy, In health, Even among the afflicted. Live in joy, In peace, Even among the troubled. Look within. Be still. Free from fear and attachment, Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

Our sorrows and wounds are healed only when we touch them with compassion.

Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.
