Laozi

Knowledge of the eternal is all-embracing. To be all-embracing leads to righteousness, which is majestic.

From now back to antiquity, its (Tao's) name has not been lost. Thereby, see the origin of all.

Heaven's net is very vast. It is sparsely meshed, yet nothing slips through.

The progress of the Way seems retreating.

Words spoken about the Way have no taste. When looked at, there's not enough to see. When listened to, there's not enough to hear. When used, it is never exhausted.

The Way is eternal. Until your last day, you are free from peril.

The Way is hidden and nameless. Still only the Way nourishes and completes.

It (Tao) is eternally without desire. So, it can be called small. All things return to it, although it does not make itself their ruler. So, it can be called great.

The light of the Way seems dim.

I do not know its name. I call it the Way. For the lack of better words I call it great.

The Way is empty, yet inexhaustible, like an abyss!

The sage does not hoard. The more he helps others, the more he benefits himself, Having bestowed all he has on others, he has yet more; having given all he has to others, he is richer still.

A good traveler leaves no tracks. Good speech lacks fault-finding.

Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.

The difficult problems in life always start off being simple. Great affairs always start off being small.

He who acts, spoils; he who grasps, lets slip.

To understand the limitation of things, desire them.

The reason why the universe is eternal is that it does not live for itself; it gives life to others as it transforms.

There is no greater danger than underestimating your opponent.

The best people are like water, which benefits all things and does not compete with them. It stays in lowly places that others reject. This is why it is so similar to the Way.

Let your workings remain a mystery. Just show people the results.
