It is tragic that people who are incarcerated are unable to vote. They are probably the most important voices to listen to because they can tell us what we need to change.

I am so beautiful, sometimes people weep when they see me. And it has nothing to do with what I look like really, it is just that I gave myself the power to say that I am beautiful, and if I could do that, maybe there is hope for them too. And the great divide between the beautiful and the ugly will cease to be. Because we are all what we choose.
Interpretation
Beauty is subjective and rooted in self-acceptance, revealing hope for others.
This quote by Margaret Cho emphasizes the concept of beauty as not merely a physical attribute, but rather a profound personal affirmation of self-worth. By claiming her beauty, Cho suggests that individuals can inspire others to recognize their worth, thereby bridging the divide between perceived beauty and ugliness. It imparts a message of empowerment, challenging societal standards of beauty and encouraging self-love and acceptance in the broader community.

If public figures came out of the closet, then the LGBT kids who saw them on TV would feel safe, before they even knew why they felt dangerous.
