The photo is a thing in itself. And that's what still photography is all about.

When I’m photographing I see life.
Interpretation
Photography allows one to capture and interpret the essence of life.
Garry Winogrand's quote reflects the idea that through the lens of a camera, he perceives the vibrancy and complexity of life itself. Photography becomes a medium for exploration and expression, where moments are frozen in time, revealing the beauty and nuances of human experiences and interactions.
In practice
In a photography exhibition, I shared this quote to highlight the purpose of capturing life's moments.
The photo is a thing in itself. And that's what still photography is all about.
The photograph should be more interesting or more beautiful than what was photographed
Photography is about finding out what can happen in the frame. When you put four edges around some facts, you change those facts.
Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how that thing looks photographed.
I like to think of photographing as a two-way act of respect. Respect for the medium, by letting it do what it does best, describe. And respect for the subject, by describing it as it is. A photograph must be responsible to both.
You have a lifetime to learn technique. But I can teach you what is more important than technique, how to see; learn that and all you have to do afterwards is press the shutter.
With age, art and life become one.
Drama, instead of telling us the whole of a man's life, must place him in such a situation, tie such a knot, that when it is untied, the whole man is visible.
I hope my recordings of my own works won't inhibit other people's performances. The brutal fact is that one doesn't always get the exact tempo one wants, although one improves with experience.
If you practice for ten years, you may begin to please yourself, after 20 years you may become a performer and please the audience, after 30 years you may please even your guru, but you must practice for many more years before you finally become a true artist-then you may please even God.
When you're traveling constantly, every day you become inspired, and it shows in my work, sonically, lyrically, visually. Conversations with women with different accents and stories told in those accents. I like to create characters based on different people I've met, and relationships. I like to tell stories loosely based on real-life events.
