No tribal rite has yet been recorded which attempts to keep winter from descending; on the contrary: the rites all prepare the community to endure, together with the rest of nature, the season of the terrible cold.

Life is without meaning. You bring the meaning to it. The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning.
Interpretation
Life's meaning is created by each individual; it is subjective and personal.
Joseph Campbell emphasizes that life in itself lacks inherent meaning, and it is up to each person to attribute their own meaning to their existence. This perspective highlights the power of individual agency and suggests that the essence of life is shaped by our choices and experiences, pointing to the importance of personal responsibility in defining our purpose.

What is the kingdom? It lies in our realization of the ubiquity of the divine presence in our neighbors, in our enemies, in all of us.
