You do not preach and encourage hatred for the Negro and hope to restrict it to that field. It is an old, old story. It is one repeated over and over again in history. When the wolves of hate are loosed on one people, then no one is safe.
Interpretation
Hatred directed at one group ultimately threatens everyone.
This quote by Ralph McGill underscores the idea that inciting hatred against any group is a dangerous precedent that can lead to widespread violence and intolerance. It highlights the cyclical nature of hatred in history, suggesting that when one group of people is targeted, it jeopardizes the safety and well-being of all, as such hate can spread beyond its intended target.

All stories are about wolves. All worth repeating, that is. Anything else is sentimental drivel. ...Think about it. There's escaping from the wolves, fighting the wolves, capturing the wolves, taming the wolves. Being thrown to the wolves, or throwing others to the wolves so the wolves will eat them instead of you. Running with the wolf pack. Turning into a wolf. Best of all, turning into the head wolf. No other decent stories exist.

You wish to be liked. I wish simply to be. One day you will know what that means, perhaps. And you will smile. Not against me. But with me.
