If you’re 35 and single and it’s a choice, it feels fine. So I didn’t settle with the wrong person yet. Big deal!

You're not supposed to look perfect while you're making babies. Making babies is the perfection. It's about feeling good in clothes and knowing you can get dressed up in the evening, work it for a minute, and maybe get back in a certain pair of jeans. But there's just no such thing as perfection.
Interpretation
The quote emphasizes that the process of becoming a parent is more important than striving for perfection in appearance.
Drew Barrymore's quote reflects the idea that the journey of making and raising children is filled with imperfections, and that these imperfections should be embraced rather than seen as failures. It suggests that feeling comfortable and confident in one's skin is more valuable than maintaining an unrealistic standard of perfection, especially during the transformative experience of parenthood.

We are not long-term beings. Not heroes of romances in many volumes. For one gesture, for one word alone, we shall make the effort. We openly admit: our creations will be temporary. We shall have this as our aim: a gesture.
