There is not really any courage at all in attacking hoary or antiquated things, any more than in offering to fight one's grandmother. Courageous men are seen by everyone under Heaven as worthy, but this doesn't preserve them from death. I am not sure I know whether this is sensible or not.

We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.
