If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost.
Zig ZiglarRead
Failure is an event, never a person; an attitude, not an outcome; a temporary inconvenience; a stepping stone. Our response to it determines just how helpful it can be.
Interpretation
Failure is not a reflection of one's identity but rather a momentary challenge that can lead to growth.
In this quote, Zig Ziglar emphasizes that failure should be viewed as a temporary setback rather than a defining characteristic of a person. By interpreting failure as an event and an opportunity for growth, individuals can maintain a positive mindset and leverage their responses to failure to transform it into a helpful experience that ultimately leads to success.

My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant. When I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you can fail at what you donβt want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.
Courage is required to make an initial thrust toward one's coveted goal, but even greater courage is called for when one stumbles and must make a second effort to achieve.
