However one might pray - in any verbal way or completely without words - is unimportant to God. What matters is the heart's intent.
A servant of the Lord stands bodily before men, but mentally he is knocking at the gates of heaven with prayer.
Too often we treat prayer as the preparation for the work of the church. Do you not see? Prayer IS the work of the church.
To become effective men of God, then, we must know and acknowledge that every grace and every virtue proceeds from God alone, and that not even a good thought can come from us except it be of Him.
