I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.

Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.
Interpretation
Success requires action; not everyone who desires success is willing to work for it.
This quote by Michael Jordan highlights the different attitudes people have towards achieving their goals. While some merely wish for success or hope for favorable outcomes, true achievers take proactive steps to turn their dreams into reality. The essence of the quote emphasizes the importance of effort and determination in the pursuit of success, distinguishing those who passively wish from those who actively engage in making things happen.
In practice
During a motivational speech to students about achieving their dreams.
I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.
There are no shortcuts. I approached practices the same way I approached games. You can't turn it on and off like a faucet. I couldn't dog it during practice and then, when I needed that extra push late in the game, expect it to be there. Very few people get anywhere by taking shortcuts.
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
Don't be like me. Be better than me. That's the goal.
Success isn't something you chase. It's something you have to put forth the effort for constantly. Then maybe it'll come when you least expect it. Most people don't understand that.
There is no pain worse than not achieving a dream when it is your fault. If God did not want you to have it, that is one thing. But if you do not get what you desire because you are lazy, there is no pain worse than that.
Up until the time I was 14 years old, I was sure that I was going to be a big-league baseball player. But that dream came to a rude awakening when I got cut from my high school baseball team.
The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get.
I love to compete. That's the essence of who I am.
Sometimes life's going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.
Choose action, not rest. Choose the good in life in all things, and choose the opportunity as well as the chance to work when springtime smiles on your face.
