Voyages are accomplished inwardly.
Interpretation
True journeys are about personal exploration and self-discovery rather than just external travel.
Henry Miller's quote suggests that the most profound and significant journeys we undertake are those that occur within ourselves. It emphasizes the importance of introspection and personal growth, indicating that understanding and exploring our inner world is just as vital, if not more so, than the physical journeys we take in the outside world.
In practice
In a motivational speech about personal development, one might say, 'Remember, voyages are accomplished inwardly, so take time to reflect on your growth.'

What do you take me for? Am I an entertainer on salary, required every evening to play an intellectual farce under your stupid noses? Am I a slave, bought and paid for, to crawl on my belly in front of you idlers and lay at your feet all that I do and all that I know?
We are swimming on the face of time and all else has drowned, is drowning, or will drown.
To sing you must first open your mouth. You must have a pair of lungs, and a little knowledge of music. It is not necessary to have an accordion, or a guitar. The essential thing is to want to sing. This then is a song. I am singing.
Trading and religion have always been aligned together in the history of the world, and especially on the African continent.
We cannot get from anyone else the things we need to fill the endless terrible need, not to be dissolved, not to sink back into sand, heat, broom, air, thinnest air. And so we revolve around each other and our dreams collide. Look out the window in any weather. We are part of all that glamour, drama, change, and should not be ashamed.
When everything that matters can be bought and sold, when commitments can be broken because they are no longer to our advantage, when shopping becomes salvation and advertising slogans become our litany, when our worth is measured by how much we earn and spend, then the market is destroying the very virtues on which in the long run it depends.
I had come to see that the great tragedy in the church is not that rich Christians do not care about the poor but that rich Christians do not know the poor...I truly believe that when the rich meet the poor, riches will have no meaning. And when the rich meet the poor, we will see poverty come to an end.
What is being awake if not interpreting our dreams, or dreaming if not interpreting our wake?
Entire ignorance is not so terrible or extreme an evil, and is far from being the greatest of all.
